Tarpon from the beach on fly

It’s fishing season, boys and girls! And while we wait for our favorites to settle into their usual spots, how about a virtual seminar about the awesome Tarpon– but with a twist! As if it isn’t challenging enough to fish for Tarpon from a boat with a fly rod… how about chasing Tarpon with a fly rod from the beach? Crazy, you say? Aren’t we all? Join seasoned fly fisherman, acclaimed Florida guide and all-around nice guy Michael Mauri as he discusses his career and love of chasing Tarpon!

Join us on Friday, June 12th at 8:30 PM on Zoom https://zoom.us/j/93853139108?pwd=amFhTWk0YWZkMEZvNW9pOVBjVUJUdz09

May Meeting on Wednesday the 6th

How about a Virtual MEETING?

Zoom meeting

Wednesday, May 6th @ 7:30pm

I’m sure we’re all going nuts with this shelter in place so let’s have a zoom meeting and share some thoughts!

We can discuss new regs, the current state of fishing, fly tying, support for the guides who have become our friends and who’s livelihoods have been crushed and anything else that comes to mind!

For those anglers who are unfamiliar with ZOOM, download the software to your computer and follow the instructions.

I invited all regular members who attend meetings so you would have received an emailed calendar invite and this went out to all members.

To join the zoom meeting, click directly on the calendar invite link or copy the link from above and use it when prompted to do so by zoom!

Hope to see you all on Wednesda

November meeting on Wednesday, Nov 20th

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 7:30pm at VFW 9592 at 55 Hickory Lane in Levittown, New York 11756.

The meeting

The November 20th meeting will include nominations for:

  • Officers: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
  • Board of Directors

We will also discuss the direction we would like to see for our club’s future. This is an important meeting, so please make every effort to attend. You may even nominate yourself.

Conclave 52

We managed to slip Conclave 52 in just before the weather really turned! All who attended appeared to enjoy the program and one another. The fish could have been more cooperative – we only caught a handful!

David Blinken, a great friend to the Salty’s and a very accomplished guide, was honored by the club for all he has done for us over the years.

Our friendly tournament was named the Joel Filner Tournament for all that Joel has done for the club during his many years of dedicated service.

Jeff Carson, a new member, actually won the tournament with, I believe, an 18″ schoolie!

Thank you all who attended and we hope to see you and at next year’s Conclave.
