We will also discuss the direction we would like to see for our club’s future. This is an important meeting, so please make every effort to attend. You may even nominate yourself.
We managed to slip Conclave 52 in just before the weather really turned! All who attended appeared to enjoy the program and one another. The fish could have been more cooperative – we only caught a handful!
David Blinken, a great friend to the Salty’s and a very accomplished guide, was honored by the club for all he has done for us over the years.
Our friendly tournament was named the Joel Filner Tournament for all that Joel has done for the club during his many years of dedicated service.
Jeff Carson, a new member, actually won the tournament with, I believe, an 18″ schoolie!
Thank you all who attended and we hope to see you and at next year’s Conclave.
Brian Phelps, Club member/fly guide/Fishing manager at Orvis Westbury has graciously volunteered to give an open-ended discussion about fly fishing around Long Island. He will provide us with a few Orvis outfits, but by all means please bring your own rods & reels with flys as we will be meeting at Jones Beach for our July meeting!
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 7:30pm at VFW 9592 at 55 Hickory Lane in Levittown, New York 11756. The meeting starts at 7:30, but come early (6:30) to practice casting on the lawn.
Club member, Lou Minghinelli, a FFI certified casting instructor will be providing an open casting session from 6:30 to 7:30 followed by a seminar, which will enable you to cast in various wind conditions.
Please bring your rods with a yarn fly. It will be fun!
