Featured Program Captain Rob Thomson
Our captain will do what he can to get you on fish. Rob is a spot and stalk type of fisherman who works the water effectively and quietly. We fish from Orient & Greenport, The Ruins, The Gut, Big Gull & Little Gull, Shelter Island, Gardners Bay, Peconic Bay, Southold, and Cutchogue. Montauk? Maybe! The types of fish we go after are Striped Bass “Stripers”, Bluefish, False Albacore “Albies”, Weakfish .
Bring a favorite early-season fly
Members are requested to bring with them a favorite early-season fly. We will hold a discussion on the 50th Annual Conclave, which will take place on June 9-11. Our featured guests will be Ed Jaworowski and an interview with Lefty Kreh.

A Time for Renewal
Membership application is now available. It’s that time again.
Flushing Line (7 train) to Main St.; Q12 bus to Northern Blvd. (East). APEC has a bus stop right in front of the Center. It is the first building on the right after the Cross Island Parkway. The LIRR stops at Bayside (Port Washington line), and you can walk south to Northern Blvd. and catch the Q12 bus.
August 2016 Meeting is cancelled. Meetings will resume in September.
The 49th Annual Conclave will be June 10, 11, 12, 2016 at the Sound View Inn, Greenport. The two night three day event will feature local Long Island guides to show the way on the beaches, three FFF fly casting instruction from beginner to advanced casting and a Friday afternoon review of the local beaches including a fishing report, a catching report and an overview of the flies that should do the trick.
The catch and release tournament will feature a prize for the largest striper and the raffle of all quality equipment, flies, reels , and will feature a Scott rod, a Tibor reel, and half day guided trips…
In the works is a ladies only casting class as well as novice instruction for kids.

Will feature Spring flies tied by Capt. David Blinken. David will tie his specials and some standards so come on down and bring your tools to tie for Spring.
Take note of the First Annual Long Island Fly Fishing Expo on March 19, 2016 where the Saltys and 5 other fly fishing groups will present the Expo, a day of instruction, fly tying, techniques, and gear. We look to member volunteers to help organize and work with the kids. Adults are $10 and kids under 18 are free as long as they are accompanied by an adult….
