The Greek philosopher Heraclitus said, “You cannot step into the same river twice, for other waters are continually flowing on.”
Water is everything. It is essential for human survival. The earth needs water to thrive and fisherman need it to enjoy.
The changes in 2020 cast a wide net.
We hope that this notice finds you in good health and recovering from the worldwide pandemic.
We are certain that you are aware that the Salty Flyrodders is the oldest saltwater fly-fishing club in the country.
The Salty Flyrodders of New York have been in a dormancy since the pandemic was declared.
I was drafted as your President only a couple of months prior to the start of the pandemic. We were getting only a handful of members to monthly meetings. A few Board of Directors members were MIA.
It was clearly time for a change for the Salty FlyRodders if we were going to survive as a club.
I had to make the tough decision to allow the club to be in a dormancy to preserve what little resources we had and wait for the timing to be right. The time is now.
We will be having an informal meeting of the Salty Fly Rodders of New York, the first of 2121.
We look forward to seeing as many of our members and their friends and everyone is welcome.
We’re going to have fishing reports (I myself will be freshly returned from Belize just three days prior to this meeting and I will have stories either about the big one or the big one that got away).
We’re going to review the state of the club. We will cover all business and new business.
We’re going to call for volunteers that want to participate in leadership roles on the Board of Directors.
Our generous host that evening is going to be Paul McCain. He has graciously allowed us to use his fly shop, River bay Outfitters as our meeting place.
